Top Atlanta Overpasses locations for Photographers

This guide is made to reveal some cool locations and help you get to know the city of Atlanta with your camera. This guide is not responsible for any issues you may run into visiting these locations. First and foremost, I always recommend asking permission to shoot somewhere new. Be smart. Use common sense and be safe. Most importantly create some cool stuff!

For photographers trying to capture Atlanta, getting the best vantage point of the city is essential. The best thing about these locations is they are all free and you have a direct line of sight of the city.

17th St NW & Fowler St NW

Located by Atlantic Station, this is a fairly easy shot to take. At the edge of the bridge, there is no fence that allows you to take a clean photo of the Atlanta Skyline.

2. Buckhead Behind Lenox Mall

3393 Peachtree Rd NE - Atlanta, GA - 30326 US

Located behind the Lenox mall. Park in the parking garage and behind a tall building you will see a bridge that goes over the highway. The area is pretty safe, but make sure to keep your eyes out at night since this is a secluded spot.

3. North Avenue NW

Located by The Varsity and the exit off the highway you can find a hole in the fence which allows for an un-interrupted view of the city.

4. Wieuca Rd NE

A unique view of Buckhead is this bridge that gives you a unique view of the Buckhead Skyline. There isn’t a parking spot nearby, but off of the side roads on a calm day, you can get away with parking your car and walking.

There is some street parking in the blocks near the bridge. However, arrive early – on some nights the sunset attracts a crowd. Please be careful, this bridge has a low rail and there is no fence. It is easy to drop things below. There is generally a fairly large crowd and with the traffic behind you, it can be a bit chaotic. Please remember to be safe.

As a picture-perfect spot in Atlanta, photographers haven’t grown tired of it, even despite its popularity in recent years on Instagram. That popularity is due to Season 1, Episode 1 of The Walking Dead where Rick rides into Atlanta. Although heavily photoshopped and altered, it appears this scene appears to be shot from the Jackson Street Bridge.
