Georgia Legislature
Given what has happened yesterday, I'm sure this will be overshadowed. Voting season is over but that means the governing season is starting. The Georgia legislature begins on Monday (yes, next week). Here are voting laws that lawmakers are proposing:
-End no-excuse absentee voting by requiring voters to give a "valid" reason to cast a mail-in ballot
-Ban absentee ballot drop boxes
-Mandate photo ID be included somehow when returning a mail-in ballot
-Eliminate mobile voting buses during early voting
-Forbid governments and organizations from mailing absentee ballot applications to registered voters
-Voting rights is just one of many things lawmakers will be making decisions about during the legislative session.
The legislature only lasts a few months so laws move pretty quickly!
