Blue-Headed parrot freed from Animal Trafficking
More than a year ago at Centro URKU some blue-headed parrots. They are usually found in tropical and subtropical South America and southern Central America, from Costa Rica, Venezuela, and Trinidad south to Bolivia and Brazil. They are usually popular as pets. Compared to other parrot species (Amazons for example) they are very quiet. They are affectionate, but not known for their talking ability.
With these factors, it makes them very common for illegal wildlife trafficking.
We at Centro URKU were able to release 3 of them into the wild by our center recently. They had been with at the center for under a year.
